6:00pm, Decorate at 6. Ride at 6:30. Kick'n off the Pedalpalooza season! Bring out the bike love for a costumed, decorated bike ride. Arrive early to decorate your bike. NO sign-up! NO fees! Just come to ride.

I will be in my mini top hat and white gloves if it's not 80 degrees out. hope to see you there!

Health Net Portland Twilight Criterium !!

A bicycle street race. Competitors must complete the most laps in a set period of time. Very fast.

this is such a good time. please come out if you're downtown Friday evening or nearby. lycra, fast bikes and beer garden. what more do you need??

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
4:00pm Streets are closed except Everett St.
5:00 pm Widmer Beer Garden and food court open
5:30 pm Free helmets for children (until 6:30) provided by Health Net
6:00pm Everett St. closes
6:15 pm Racers' warm-up
6:30 pm Cat 3 race (all ages + genders, cat 2 women allowed) - 40 minutes
7:15 pm Racers' warm-up
7:30 pm Professionals', cat 1,2 Race (all ages + genders) - 60 minutes

Come watch the area's fastest cyclists compete for the region's biggest purse in the Health Net Portland Twilight Criterium. The course surrounds the North Park Blocks of downtown Portland, creating an island oasis of 360-degree viewing, music, food and beverage. There are several places where you can get close enough to feel the wind from the peloton. Each lap is one-half mile long which takes the racers just over one minute to complete. The course is highly technical so fields are limited to eighty riders.

The event is free to attend and great for families. Come downtown Friday evening (8/8/08), to experience the excitement yourself.

ps: i'm volunteering at the Criterium as a 'course marshal'. i get to yell at pedestrians crossing the course when racers come by. sweeeeet.
